You approve the home page, add a service page and ask AI for another section. Suddenly, buttons change size, headings use another typeface and cards seem to belong to different brands. The issue is not the number of pages, but the lack of shared criteria.
A design system organizes those decisions. It can be compact: colours with clear roles, a spacing scale, text styles and components with predictable behaviour. For a business website, that supports both its presentation and future updates.
Start with repeated decisions
Look for elements used across pages: navigation, headings, buttons, cards, forms and the footer. Decide what should stay consistent and what may vary by role. You do not need to turn every detail into a component before understanding the content.
A landing page and a case can have different compositions while belonging to the same system. The connection comes from identity, reading rhythm and control behaviour. Repeating criteria is different from repeating an entire layout.
- Background, text, accent and focus colours.
- Type families and the weights actually used.
- Spacing, reading widths and corner radii.
- Button, field, menu and card states.
Name the visual roles
The Design Tokens Community Group published Format Module 2025.10 in October 2025 for exchanging tokens between tools. It is a final community group report, not a W3C Standard. It provides technical context for named, reusable design decisions.
In a website, names such as primary text, surface and accent action are more useful than unrelated values on every component. When a colour changes its role, named decisions help locate the places that need to change and those that should remain different.
Give AI the system as context
When requesting a section, include the approved rules and an example of an existing component. Specify the content, available space and intended action. Without that context, the tool has more room to make choices that do not fit the site.
Ask which elements can be reused and which genuinely need to be new. Review the result in the complete website. A section may appear organized alone while introducing conflicting contrast, type or navigation when placed on the page.
Include states and difficult content
Buttons need more than a resting appearance: focus, touch, unavailable states and different label lengths matter too. The same applies to a form displaying an error or a card receiving a longer translated title.
Keep a small set of difficult examples: a long service name, a larger list, a bright photograph and a heading spanning extra lines. They reveal where the system relies on ideal content. Improve the rules instead of quietly adding a new exception for every problem.
Document enough for the next update
A simple reference page can explain colour roles, heading styles, button patterns and combinations. It should help whoever prepares content or continues the work without requiring an extensive presentation for every change.
Update the reference when decisions change and review the affected elements. An abandoned system can be as confusing as no system at all. Keep the document close to the project and connect it to components that are actually in use.
Use consistency to make the business clearer
Imagine a visitor moving from an article to the plans and then a case. If each page has a different contact convention, continuing requires extra effort. A shared identity helps people recognize the company and move through its information.
MissaciWeb treats content, visual direction and development as parts of one project. That supports an individual presentation while preparing for additional pages. When discussing a business website or e-commerce project, bring examples of what you may need after the initial publication.
Visual decisions become clearer when they meet real content. Explore the Gráfica Jobi case, with its high-contrast visual direction, and compare the website you need with the business website scope.
A checklist to take away
- Map repeated visual decisions.
- Name colours and styles by their roles.
- Give AI approved rules.
- Test states, long copy and different images.
- Keep the reference aligned with the live website.
